Optomi, in partnership with our pharmaceutical client, are seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer for a long term contract opportunity.

This is fully remote, contract extends each quarter, must work PST hours.

W2 only - no C2C/sponsorship available.

We are seeking a hands-on AWS DevOps Engineer to join a fast-moving team supporting a growing roadmap of infrastructure initiatives for a major pharmaceutical client. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and brings deep experience in CI/CD automation using GitLab and GitLab Runner.

You'll be helping support and improve existing Kubernetes infrastructure, with opportunities to influence and deliver on strategic roadmap items through the rest of 2025.

Key Responsibilities

CI/CD Automation

1. Build and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and GitLab Runner.
2. Integrate automated testing, security scans, and deployment workflows.
3. Continuously improve pipeline reliability, performance, and maintainability.
4. GitLab

AWS Cloud Infrastructure

1. Manage and support existing AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, VPC, etc.).
2. Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting across cloud environments.
3. Collaborate with other engineers to identify opportunities for optimization.

Kubernetes Operations

1. Maintain and support existing Kubernetes (EKS) clusters.
2. Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and performance tuning.
3. Ensure adherence to best practices around security, networking, and resource allocation.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

1. Terraform is preferred for managing infrastructure; CloudFormation is acceptable if concepts are well understood.
2. Maintain reusable IaC modules for provisioning and managing AWS and Kubernetes resources.

Scripting & Automation

1. Scripting in Python or similar languages is a nice-to-have, not a requirement.
2. Look for opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and streamline operations.

Who You Are

1. Experienced DevOps Engineer with 5+ years in AWS infrastructure and CI/CD.
2. Strong knowledge of GitLab CI/CD pipelines and GitLab Runner.
3. Comfortable supporting existing infrastructure and working with Kubernetes (EKS).
4. Familiar with Terraform and IaC best practices.
