Description:

The Website Content Entry Specialist will be responsible for inputting, formatting, and optimizing website content into a content management system (primarily WordPress and Shopify), ensuring each page aligns perfectly with the approved design. This includes text, images, videos, SEO metadata, and internal linking. You will also be responsible for checking the desktop and mobile site to ensure the content entered displays correctly.

This is not a development or design role. However, knowledge about websites and terminology is crucial for success.

Responsibilities:

  1. Populate and format copy, images, and other content into various CMS’s such as WordPress (Gutenberg, Elementor, ACF, WPBakery, etc), Shopify (Theme Customizer), or even headless CMS’s.
  2. Populate and format copy for emails and email templates in ESP’s such as Mailchimp and Klaviyo
  3. Ensure design integrity by maintaining spacing, typography, and visual hierarchy according to provided design files (Figma/Sketch/Adobe XD).
  4. Ensuring the accuracy of pre-written copy by checking paragraph and line breaks, spelling, formatting consistency, and flagging discrepancies or unimplemented changes to the broader team.
  5. Ensure images have alt tags that accurately describe the image.
  6. Add SEO meta titles and descriptions where needed.
  7. Cross link pages where possible and necessary.
  8. Work closely with designers, writers, project managers, and developers to report layout or formatting issues.
  9. Conduct thorough QA checks on all devices and browsers before launch.
  10. Provide feedback on areas of improving processes as deemed necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience with web editors and content management systems such as WordPress CMS, including custom themes and popular page builders (Elementor, Gutenberg, etc.) and eCommerce platforms such as Shopify and BigCommerce.
  2. Knowledge of popular ESP’s like Mailchimp and Klaviyo
  3. Strong eye for design and detail, ensuring pixel-perfect implementation of content without any unexpected formatting or layout issues.
  4. Understanding of SEO basics, including alt text, metadata, and proper heading structures.
  5. Excellent communication skills and ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.
  6. Experience working with project management tools such as Teamwork.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Knowledge of multi-language websites and tools like WPML and Weglot.
  2. Prior agency experience handling multiple client websites simultaneously.
  3. Knowledge of CRM’s like Hubspot (primarily marketing tools like web sites, landing pages, and emails)

Key Traits for Success:

  1. Detail-Oriented: You notice spacing, typography, and visual consistency issues others might miss. You know terms like kerning, leading, etc to accurately describe issues.
  2. Process-Oriented: You never forget to run one last spell check, and are strong at remembering workflows in an active project.
  3. Efficient: Able to manage content population quickly while maintaining accuracy.
  4. Problem-Solver: You can troubleshoot formatting and minor technical challenges independently.
  5. Team Player: Comfortable collaborating with designers, writers, developers, and project managers.

Tools You May Use:
