Senior GCP Cloud Engineer – Engineering-Led Cloud Consultancy

Location: Remote (ET timezone preferred)

Salary: $135,000 – $195,000 + Equity Option

Type: Full-time | Permanent

Industry: Cloud, Data & AI Consulting

We’re working with an engineering-first consultancy that’s redefining how cloud, data, and AI solutions are delivered across enterprise environments. Their model is simple: empower exceptional engineers with the autonomy, tools, and trust to do impactful work—without the red tape.

They’re now looking for a Senior GCP Cloud Engineer to design and build secure, scalable infrastructure in Google Cloud, with a focus on automation, developer experience, and enabling AI/ML capabilities.

About the Role

You’ll lead the technical delivery of complex cloud platforms, combining infrastructure design with hands-on implementation. You’ll work closely with both internal teams and enterprise clients to architect GCP-native environments that enable scalability, automation, and modern development practices.

This isn’t a slide-deck role—you’ll be hands-on with tools like Terraform, GKE, Vertex AI, and CI/CD pipelines, helping clients implement secure, production-grade systems.

What You'll Do

  1. Lead Infrastructure Design & Delivery – Architect and implement secure, scalable GCP environments using native services.
  2. Build Developer-First Pipelines – Design CI/CD systems that streamline code deployment and ensure security and observability by default.
  3. Enable AI & ML Platforms – Support the implementation of services like Vertex AI, Gemini, model serving, and vector stores, laying the cloud foundation for advanced AI workloads.
  4. Own Kubernetes (GKE) Deployments – Design and manage container orchestration with security, federation, and automation in mind.
  5. Automate Infrastructure – Use tools like Terraform, CDKTF, and KCC to build immutable, version-controlled infrastructure.
  6. Promote Best Practices – Guide internal and client teams on cloud security, IaC, networking, and scalable system design.
  7. Stay Curious & Share Knowledge – Continuously explore new tools, patterns, and ideas—and contribute back through mentoring or internal sharing.

What We're Looking For

  1. Deep expertise in GCP services including GKE, BigQuery, BigLake, DataFlow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, IAM, Workflows, Spanner.
  2. Strong Kubernetes background with experience managing GKE clusters, CRDs, IAM integrations, and job scheduling.
  3. Mastery of Infrastructure-as-Code tooling (Terraform, CDK, KCC, etc.).
  4. Solid understanding of network architecture across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments.
  5. Experience in secure, regulated environments (e.g., fintech, healthcare, enterprise).
  6. Track record of building secure SDLC pipelines (artifact scanning, signing, CI/CD frameworks).
  7. Proficiency in Python and/or Java.
  8. Familiarity with Policy-as-Code, observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana), and cloud-native security best practices.
  9. Strong communication skills and the ability to work across teams and with clients.
  10. A continuous learning mindset and willingness to mentor others.

Why Join?

  1. Engineer-Led Culture – Founded and run by engineers who understand the work and care deeply about quality.
  2. High-Impact Projects – Partner with top-tier enterprise clients on complex, meaningful infrastructure challenges.
  3. Remote-First Team – Work from anywhere in the US (ET timezone alignment preferred).
  4. Flat Hierarchy – No middle management, no unnecessary meetings—just smart people solving real problems.
  5. Equity Upside – Long-term incentive structure through phantom stock (4-year vesting, annual top-ups).

Compensation

  1. Base Salary: $190,000 – $220,00
  2. Equity Options: Phantom stock, 4-year vesting, annual top-up
  3. Benefits: Full health coverage (medical, dental, vision), 401K with 4% match
