The American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) is the collective spirit and unifying voice of our nation's Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). AIHEC provides leadership and influences public policy on American Indian and Alaska Native higher education issues through advocacy, research, and programmatic initiatives; promotes and strengthens Indigenous languages, cultures, communities, lands, and tribal nations; and, through its unique position, serves member institutions and emerging TCUs.
The Program Director will implement and track program objectives in support of broadening TCU’s academic programs through faculty, student, and community engagement in knowledge management. The Director will ensure that program engagement and activities remain focused on continuous improvement of the learning engagement model for knowledge stakeholders at all TCUs and the communities they serve.
· Work closely and cooperatively with the Program Coordinator on all essential functions.
· Design faculty/student recruitment strategies to raise awareness and increase participation in the Open Education Network (OEN) and the Indigenous Knowledge Digital Library (IKDL).
· Design presentations to TCU presidents/AIHEC Board of Directors on the OEN and IKDL.
· Develop a thorough understanding of licensing requirements.
· Design faculty and student surveys, peer reviews, workshops, modules, trainings, and activities around professional development and best practices in Open Pedagogy.
· Provide technical support to faculty/librarians, as requested.
· Grow a TCU Open Education community of practice.
· Oversee the creation of an academic-focused IKDL platform to accept, organize, index, and house materials.
· Develop IKDL Collections’ Policy outlining selection criteria, selection process, indexing, etc.
· Develop all funder-required reports.
· Other tasks as may be required by the program.
● Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
● Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
● Ability to work collaboratively to meet shifting deadlines and priorities
● Excellent organizational and project management skills
● Demonstrated media-production experience
● Self-starter who can work independently with a minimum of direction and supervision
● Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment
This position reports to AIHEC’s Interim-President & CEO
Travel: up to 20%
