Job Description
A state-of-the-art Telecommunications provider is looking for its next Network/Broadband Engineer II to join their experienced team of 60 employees. The company is dedicated to delivering exceptional communication services, including local and long-distance telephone services, high-speed Internet access, digital television, and home, personal, and business security monitoring.

The Network/Broadband Engineer II is responsible for designing, engineering, and coordinating the selection, installation, and acceptance testing of Broadband Video, Broadband Internet, Broadband CAP, and Telco data/voice distribution facilities. They will also oversee daily operations of the IPTV platform and be responsible for maintaining network architectures (LAN and WAN).

Responsibilities:

  • Research and configure equipment for Digital Broadband Video, Digital Broadband Internet, Digital Broadband Competitive Access Provider, Central Office, and Telco Local Loop Facilities.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors of equipment to obtain cost estimates, recommendations, and equipment purchases.
  • Engineer, design, install, monitor, and administer system equipment, operating system software, and application software.
  • Write Job Orders, issue Purchase Orders, and ensure completion of each job.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair problems with system equipment and/or software.
  • Specify environmental conditions for equipment rooms, cable types, and floor plans of equipment arrangement.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of cable systems, equipment inventory, and floor plans.
  • Meet with contractors, customers, vendors, and other companies to discuss available products and services.
  • Attend in-house and outside schooling, training, or meetings to enhance knowledge.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Broadband Video, Broadband Internet, Co-located equipment offerings, and telephone operations.
  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure and network hardware.
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices.
  • Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and MAPCOM.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in LAN/WAN hardware and software technologies and methodologies.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to meet and work with the public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

Experience/Training:

  • Completion of an associates or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, network engineering, or a technical discipline field
  • 3 years of progressive experience in a Broadband-Video/Telephony setting, performing duties related to transport facilities associated with Broadband-Video base station/subscriber equipment
  • CAPM Certification (Certified Associate of Project Management) or PMP knowledge
  • Specialized telephone engineering training or related work experience in telecommunications
  • Certifications with Calix, Extreme, and/or Taqua (preferred).
