Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager, Projects/eProjects, this position provides support for the Nursing team.


Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

  1. Up to one year working in an entry-level editorial, digital publishing, or related role
  2. Strong organizational skills
  3. Ability to multitask and prioritize
  4. Energetic, can-do attitude
  5. A desire to learn the nursing publication business
  6. Ability to work well as part of a team and interdepartmentally
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Google docs
  8. Experience with digital art, electronic text, databases, ftp sites, DropBox, and internet research a plus

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Nursing Review Program (40%)

  1. Commission peer and expert reviews in Survey Monkey and Qualtrics; develop and manage a database of reviewers
  2. Seek out and develop working relationship with reviewers and maintain lists according to areas of expertise and review quality
  3. Work closely with Acquisitions Editors (AEs), Content Project Managers (CPMs) and Manager, Projects/eProjects in the development of reviewer/review questionnaires
  4. Ensure that questionnaires have been created to solicit key information on content quality and marketability and that they are grammatically and structurally sound
  5. Create and manage lists of reviewers for inclusion in front matter of publications
  6. Create summary report of reviews for each reviewed project
  7. Create blind copies of review questionnaires for author use

Administrative/Database Management/Reporting (30%)

  1. Follow up with contributors to obtain contributor agreements
  2. Compile contributor lists and update credentials for front matter; provide final files and forms to editorial team
  3. Assist with creation of contributor agreements and profile forms
  4. Make author meeting arrangements including food orders, travel, reservations and payments, author packet copies, and meeting rooms
  5. Update product database (Klopotek) at multiple phases of each product’s development
  6. Prepare reports as needed
  7. Create departmental reports as requested
  8. Order complimentary copies as needed
  9. Prepare and process reviewer payments
  10. Mail foreign language translation copies to authors

Manuscript/Ancillary Preparation (25%)

  1. Help CPMs prepare ancillary manuscript for release to production as needed including:
  2. Format Power Points and apply templates
  3. Format instructor and student test bank ancillaries
  4. Conduct uncomplicated stock photo research
  5. Other manuscript prep as assigned

Permissions (5%)

  1. Research and grant permission to outside for department; Maintain records of all requested permissions
  2. Complete permission projects as assigned
  3. Upload permissions to Censhare with metadata as directed
  4. Miscellaneous
  5. Other tasks as assigned by Manager, including possibility of managing 1 or 2 small projects through to publication.

Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in English, science, publishing, or related field

Physical demands and work environment:

  1. Work conducted in a home office setting
  2. High-speed internet access (at least 25 mbps download and 5 mbps upload) that must be reliable, available, accessible, and secure to successfully work from home.
  3. Regular communication through verbal, written, visual, and auditory means
  4. Attendance of virtual meetings, including “camera on” meeting requirements
  5. Frequent sitting, computer work
  6. Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing
  7. Limited travel may be required for company/team events
