Job Description:

DCS is an employee-owned company focused on providing engineering, programmatic, and technical support services to the Department of Defense and other national security customers. Our Joint Systems Division (JSD) is seeking an Aviation/Aerospace Operations and Business Development Director to work closely with the JSD Vice President (VP), to achieve mission objectives, translate organizational vision into operational reality, ensure business goals for account growth, and exceed customer satisfaction objectives. This blended, dynamic position drives market strategy, develops business opportunities, plans and executes portfolio goals and manages project work teams to enable high quality outcomes.

In this role, you must rely on your operations and business development expertise and judgment to plan, execute, and accomplish market goals in an evolving work environment. 

Essential Job Functions:

Operations Management:

Drive high-performance standards across the operation, develop and hire great talent, identify, and implement solutions for filling any gaps that may exist.

Derive and effectively communicate customer strategies and desires through actionable insight.

Maintain current client satisfaction, deliver exceptional customer service, and foster organic growth.

Provide overall leadership and support a culture that operates ethically with honesty, integrity, and respect.

Develop comprehensive project documentation and technical reports.

Communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.

Forecast and track key account metrics.

Work cross-sector to provide customers with additional capabilities.

Transition opportunities from business development to operations when contracts are awarded (coordinate with Executive, Operations and Resource teams.

Business Development:

Work closely with the Division VP, Business Development team, and others across the enterprise, including functional business partners, to drive growth and build effective relationships and teams to create innovative customer solutions.

Contribute to the identification, capture, and development of bid strategy to grow DCS's Huntsville portfolio and corporate business development goals through coordination with prime contractors, subcontractors, and teammates.

Drive continued development of the market opportunity pipeline of relevant business opportunities and assist with the preparation of proposal data calls, proposal kick-off presentations, color team reviews, and gate reviews.

Attend industry briefings, meetings, and conferences to engage and learn more about future business opportunities.

Travel required 10%-25% (w/o COVID restrictions).

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Active Secret Clearance.

Bachelor’s Degree + 15 years of experience or Master’s degree with 10 years of management experience within the DoD environment.

10+ years of experience managing government contracts (FFP, T&M, Cost Plus, etc.) and large BPA efforts.

Significant account management experience with the Army, specifically organizations aligned to Aviation & Missile Command (AvMC) and Army Materiel Command (AMC), delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs.

Experience delivering lifecycle business development activities, including market analysis and planning, partner/teaming strategies, opportunity identification and qualification, pipeline management, and development and execution of win strategies.

Extensive experience developing and selling services to Federal Government organizations and a proven track record of growing the business (both in revenue and profitability).

Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills as well as the ability to quickly solve problems and think critically.

Highly effective interpersonal skills to build relationships and carry out daily interactions with staff, customers, senior leadership, and teammates.

Ability to manage multiple projects, and work well in a high-intensity environment with attention to detail and deadlines.

Strong planning, coordination, execution, and analytical skills coupled with the willingness to take ownership for the outcomes of projects within scope of responsibility.

Proven success in hiring and developing high-performing teams to meet customers and organizational goals.

Demonstrated experience responding to RFIs and RFPs.

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products – particularly TEAMS, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Desired Skills:

Ambitious and growth opportunity minded.

Ability to mentor other employees.

Proposal development, Technomile, and SharePoint experience.

Solid financial operations P&L background, to include budgeting, forecasting, reporting.

Ability to communicate with clients and gather information about a project's scope, budgets and timeline.

Experience with staffing and recruiting for contract transitions.
