As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll join the Promotions Platform team within FBG. Your duties will encompass the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of software that enables customers to engage with FBG's promotional systems. Additionally, you will contribute to backend features that allow customers to earn rewards, which can be used throughout the entire Fanatics ecosystem. We are currently focused on developing the next generation of promotional tools.

Responsibilities

1. Lead a team or teams that develops, tests, documents, and deploys high quality software into production, leading the delivery of solutions that are extensible and scalable
2. Clarify requirements and assists with coding/story estimates
3. Participate in the on-call rotation when needed to troubleshoot software issues
4. Quickly identify when to troubleshoot or escalate when tasks or projects hit roadblocks, find a path forward in difficult situations
5. Mitigate immediate risk, identify and resolve root causes
6. Remove bottlenecks and make technical and design approach trade-off decisions short term vs long-term
7. Contribute to team planning and design discussions, building more expertise around design approaches, driving best practices and improving the speed of delivery
8. Lead code reviews to provide constructive direction
9. Proactively simplifies code and resolves team architecture deficiencies
10. Impact software architecture, dependencies, performance, and business value
11. Improve testability, operational excellence metrics, and team documentation
12. Advise technology leaders, our product team, and other internal stakeholders to make technology decisions that grow and improve our products
13. Mentor and coach other engineers and actively work to reduce onboarding burden of future team members
14. Influence your team's adherence to the principles, guidelines, and best practices of our engineering strategy
15. Develop a solid understanding of our industry, product, feature set and roadmap
16. Remain current on the latest technologies and trends in software development
17. Must be open to occasional travel to Fanatics Betting & Gaming offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities

Required Qualifications

1. 7+ years of experience building highly scalable and fault tolerant systems
2. You understand a broad range of design approaches
3. You are able to triage and debug system-wide production issues
4. Demonstrated experience mentoring other engineers
5. Able to effectively communicate complex technical subjects to a variety of audiences (engineers, technical leaders, marketing and operations teams, non-technical functional leaders)
6. Familiar with Agile software product delivery and SCRUM methodology
7. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
8. You have an agile mindset; able to embrace new initiatives in a fast-paced environment
9. Thrives in an entrepreneurial, hyper-growth environment where priorities evolve regularly and decisions are made quickly
10. Team-first mentality, with a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done and a desire to strive for better
11. Able to effectively work cross-functionally within an enterprise environment

The expected salary range for this role is based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is eligible for the Fanatics Betting and Gaming annual bonus program and an equity award. *Salary range is listed in USD; actual salary will vary based on location. *Salary Range: $144,000 - $215,000 per year (actual salary will be determined in part by a successful candidate’s geographic location). In addition to base salary, bonus, and equity, full-time employees are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, paid time off, and other benefits like GymPass, Pet Insurance, Family Care Benefits, and more. We’ll also give you $700 to set up your home office!

This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in one of the following states: AL, AZ, GA, IA, IN, KY, LA, MI, MN, MO, NE, NH, NC, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WI, WV. Alternatively, we are open to a hybrid role based in Denver, CO.
