About This Role:

Favor TechConsulting, LLC (FTC) a wholly owned subsidiary of Tria-Federal (Tria) is seeking a talented Software Development Manager


As SW DEV Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of applications using legacy PowerBuilder. Your role will involve reviewing applications created in the PowerBuilder environment, ensuring documentation is up to date, processes are being followed, and working with the Government client to modernize these legacy applications over time.

 


Responsibilities:

 

  • Overseeing the design, development, and testing of current PowerBuilder applications. This includes ensuring agile best practices are being followed, documentation is created and maintained, and the development group is engaged and working with efficiency.
  • Establish and enforce quality assurance processes for PowerBuilder applications, including code reviews, unit testing, regression testing, code release notes, Government release approvals, and end-user support for operational applications
  • Ensure that the applications are reliable, efficient, and maintainable.
  • Provide support to users and address any issues or bugs related to PowerBuilder applications. This includes investigating and resolving technical problems, analyzing system performance, and implementing fixes or enhancements.
  • Ensure that appropriate documentation, such as technical specifications, user manuals, and change logs, are created and maintained. You may also need to ensure compliance with organizational policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and plan the progression of legacy PowerBuilder applications into a new modernized platform.
  • Software development lifecycle (SDLC): Familiarity with the SDLC is important, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment. You should have a solid understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and the ability to apply best practices.
  • Experience ensuring SW Dev practices are in support and compliance with CMMI-DEV lvl-3 best practices.
  • Database management: Proficiency in working with databases is necessary, as PowerBuilder applications often interact with backend databases. Knowledge of SQL, relational databases (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server), and data modeling is beneficial.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging: Strong problem-solving skills are essential for overseeing the identification and resolution of issues in PowerBuilder applications.

 


The “Need-to-Have” Skills & Qualifications:

  • PowerBuilder expertise: Prior proficiency in PowerBuilder development is essential. You should have in-depth knowledge of PowerBuilder concepts, frameworks, and best practices. Experience with PowerBuilder versions, such as PowerBuilder 12.6 or later, is required
  • Understanding of PowerBuilder development principles, best practices, and the PowerBuilder toolset.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing a team of software developers is crucial. You should have the ability to lead, motivate, and mentor developers, allocate resources effectively, and ensure timely project delivery
