Supervises staff involved in establishing, promoting and maintaining hospital security and property protection programs by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Assists Security Contracted Services (Phoenix) in maintaining departmental performance improvement activities and participates in CQI activities.

Education Background and Experience
Minimum Education:
High School graduate or equivalent
Healthcare focused de-escalation training (AVADE, CPI, or similar)
Required Licensure / Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License
Completion of BLS within six months
Required Experience:
One to three (1-3) years’ experience in the field of law enforcement and/or security; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
HIPAA, Restraint Training, and Emergency Code Training required within six months.
Preferred Qualifications:
IAHSS Basic Security Officer certification

Essential Job Functions
- Acts as liaison between Security Officers and the Security Department Sr. Director.
- Assists the Security Contracted Services in establishing operational policies including staff assistance with patient restraint, traffic control, escorting staff, monitoring response systems, investigations, disruptions, etc.
- Ensures that security risk analysis and vulnerability analysis is completed for the entire facility.
- Serve as a liaison and public relations representative with patients, visitors, and staff for matters related to security and public safety.
- Patrols hospital and grounds once every week, alternating shifts, to assure Security Officers are performing duties appropriately.
- Assists in developing, reviewing and participating in security training for hospital staff including new employee orientation, ongoing education in high-risk areas, etc.
- Investigate instances of complaints, critical security incidents, and/or unusual circumstances reported by staff, visitors, physicians or patients, and provide a written report of all incidents.
- Performs the job of Security Officer when required.
Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range ($28.02 - $33.01 /hour) dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation increment increases annually.
