Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced AI-First Full Stack Engineer to join our engineering team to work on our WordPress and Laravel-based systems and help transform our development workflows by leveraging artificial intelligence. This role is perfect for a forward-thinking engineer who sees AI as a fundamental tool for enhancing development productivity, code quality, and product capabilities rather than just an add-on feature.


We need you to help us maintain great, high-quality websites and collaborate with a team of talented people who are thoughtful, inclusive, respect each other, and who tackle hard problems. As a senior contributor, we want you to be someone who helps the web move forward. Industry thought leadership, such as contributing to working groups and/or open-source projects are strongly encouraged.


While this post is for Senior Software Engineer, we are open to hiring at another level for the right candidate. You will have the chance to work on some of the largest, trusted brands in entertainment and fashion news, including Variety, Billboard, Deadline, WWD, and Robb Report.


As PMC values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.


Responsibilities


  1. Develop and maintain scalable WordPress plugins and Laravel applications using modern PHP practices
  2. Build responsive, performant React and NextJS frontend applications with AI-enhanced user experiences
  3. Help design and implement AI-powered features such as editorial tools, assistants, agents, and intelligent automation
  4. Collaborate with product teams to identify opportunities for AI enhancement
  5. Architect API integrations between WordPress, Laravel, and external services
  6. Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
  7. Containerize applications using Docker and deploy to AWS Fargate for scalable production environments
  8. Manage AWS infrastructure including S3 for asset storage, Lambda for serverless functions, and Bedrock for AI services
  9. Help maintain and improve infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and observability (New Relic) tools
  10. Ensure code quality through automated testing, documentation, and peer review processes
  11. Create intelligent automation workflows that reduce manual development overhead
  12. Help establish best practices for AI-assisted development across the engineering team
  13. Troubleshoot and address technical problems affecting production websites

Qualifications

  1. 5+ years of PHP development experience with strong knowledge of WordPress and Laravel frameworks
  2. 3+ years of React and TypeScript experience with solid understanding of NextJS, hooks, testing, and modern frontend architecture
  3. 1+ years of hands-on experience with AI coding assistants and AI-powered development workflows
  4. Proven experience with agentic coding solutions and next-gen IDEs (Cursor, Devin, Junie, Claude Code, etc.)
  5. Experience with DevOps practices including Docker containerization, GitHub Actions CI/CD, and AWS services
  6. Proficiency in RESTful API design and maintenance, and microservices architecture
  7. Experience with MySQL database design and optimization (PostgreSQL is a plus)
  8. Experience developing WordPress at scale
  9. Good understanding of SEO and accessibility standards
  10. Proven experience with secure development and/or cybersecurity

Typical wage range: $125k - $180k. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role.
