Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer

About Company / Opportunity: This is an amazing opportunity to join a well-established e-commerce enterprise. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, implement, deploy, and manage complex backend systems.

Responsibilities:

1. Contribute to feature development in an agile environment using Scala (no prior experience required) and technologies such as GCP, OpenAPI, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub.
2. Design and build core systems within a modern microservices architecture.
3. Deliver production-ready code within days and iterate quickly based on feedback.
4. Collaborate with a diverse, cross-functional team, giving and receiving constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
5. Drive high-impact projects that shape the direction and success of the product.

Must-Have Skills:

1. Skilled at introducing cutting-edge industry practices and technologies to improve systems and workflows
2. Deep understanding of distributed systems, with insight into how architectural choices impact scalability, performance, and maintainability
3. Proven success in cross-functional teams, collaborating effectively with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Frontend Engineers, and other experts
4. Strong commitment to quality, consistently writing testable, scalable, and high-performing code
5. Comfortable operating independently, with the ability to proactively navigate ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving objectives
6. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and services
7. Familiarity with Scala and its ecosystem of libraries
8. Background in eCommerce or related domains is beneficial
9. Interest and experience in full-stack development, particularly contributing to React-based web frontends, is a plus
