The Institute for School-Community Partnerships, Integrative Services, and Child Mental Health and Educational Policy (ISCP), which is part of the College of Education, envisions that all schools in the state of Florida and nationally will have the capacity to provide a safe, effective, and efficient environment to continuously improve the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students and to actively engage families and communities in education. The ISCP's nearly $23 million budget is derived from grants from federal, state, and private sources. It is the mission of the ISCP to implement and evaluate research-based and innovative practices in school and community settings. This is accomplished through (a) training, technical assistance, and support to key partners; (b) community-engaged research and program evaluation to inform key partners' decision making; (c) the development of research and evidence-based documents, tools, and resources to support implementation and evaluation activities; and (d) supporting the infrastructure and capacity of key partners to implement and evaluate federal and state educational policy.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technology Management Specialist will work with the Florida Department of Education's Bureau of Exceptional Student Education and Student Services (BEESS), providing support with the use of assistive technology and universal design for learning to improve academic and behavioral outcomes for all students in the Florida PreK-12 school system. This position will support outreach programs and activities that will be implemented both in-person and through online platforms and will build on information, technologies, models, and digital collections that are areas of emphasis with BEESS. This position will assist in outreach to state, district, and school personnel through the operation of a statewide Assistive Technology and Universal Design for Learning Loan Library: to include the identification of appropriate and effective technologies, materials, and resources; the operations of the loan library system; and collection of outcome data. This position serves as a technology facilitator for the BEESS, showcasing the latest in available techniques, platforms and tools for assistive technology, accessible educational materials, personalization, and universal design for learning. Assistance will also be provided for all loan library projects and support services to the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE). This position requires practical and demonstrable knowledge and experience in areas of web design, ADA and WCAG web accessibility standards, computer programming, app development, database development and management in distribution of online information, product development, artificial intelligence tools, digital audio, productivity software (such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, etc.) and illustration/page layout. A background knowledge of assistive technology, instructional technology, and educational technology is preferred.
The ability to learn new software and hardware platforms is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Driver's License and travel are required along with the ability to learn new software and hardware platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate, maintain, and manage the software system databases that support the functioning of the statewide Assistive Technology & Universal Design for Learning Loan Library. Develop, manage, and analyze online communication, information distribution, and information management systems, such as digital newsletters (e.g., Constant Contact, MailChimp, etc.), online database systems (e.g., Caspio, etc.), virtual meetings (e.g., Zoom, etc.).
Develop, maintain, and manage websites for the TLC MTSS Project (TLCMTSS, AT&UDL Loan Library, Passport to Learning) to include adherence to ADA and WCAG accessibility standards.
Maintain and manage the daily operation of statewide Assistive Technology & Universal Design for Learning Loan Library, to include the identification of appropriate equipment, materials, and resources for loan; communication with all patrons; shipping, receiving, and maintaining library resources; and collection of data on use and outcomes.
Assist in the delivery of face-to-face and virtual professional development activities addressing assistive technology, accessible educational materials, personalized learning, and universal design for learning. Assist with the maintenance, transport, and set-up of a variety of model hands-on technology demonstration labs at various state, regional, and local functions as requested.
Remain current in knowledge of innovative developments, literature, technology and technical sources related to position responsibilities.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires an AA, Bachelor's degree, or a technology certification, with four years of experience in office or technology positions. Experience with digital communications, database systems, apple device management, and web design. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute for the required experience.
PREFERRED:
Bachelor's degree or a technology certification, such as a certification in computer information systems, computer programming, game development & design, assistive technology, and instructional technology. Types of work experience that are preferred include: experience in the use of online database systems; experience in the development of online dashboards; experience in data collection and analysis.
Preferred skillsets include knowledge and experience:
Virtual training environments, digital communications, database systems and apple device management software systems, and virtual immersive technologies.
Web design with knowledge of ADA and WCAG accessibility standards.
Page layout, illustration, and graphic design.
Managing information systems.
