Overview of Job Function

Verint's Senior Software Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the development of platforms and applications in t his highly skilled hands-on role. Subject to their specialization, this Senior Software Engineer is involved in all aspects of the development of cloud-based software solutions participating in and leading the design, development, testing, publishing, and/or support of different cloud-based products and solutions and serves as a subject matter expertise for customer implementation and cloud platform support. The Senior Software Engineer works closely with a global team of engineers to build robust solutions that meet our business objectives following continuous integration and continuous deployment processes , while supporting software and associate software engineers. Additionally, this role provides recommendations to management as to process, technologies, or other improvements intended to benefit productivity, efficiency and/or quality of the solutions developed by the team and leads the implementation of new solutions.

Principal Duties and Essential Responsibilities

  1. Ongoing evaluation (test) of feature design – proactively work with others to identify issues or potential risk areas with the architecture (performance etc.)
  2. Distill requirements from feature level into implementation level tasks
  3. Develop features using best practices and ensure it fits with the architecture for the product
  4. Ensure the right work is being done, work with Team Lead to know that product qualities like, unit tests, automation, throughput, capacities, security & performance will be sufficient
  5. Ensure design and implementation work meets the stakeholder’s requirements
  6. Ensure that the feature design is correct for operations, as well as deployment and sustainability
  7. Support departmental and team initiatives
  8. Work with Team Technical Architect and Lead to define, document, and communicate coherent feature design
  9. Communicate relevant risks and issues to Team Lead and other relevant team members inside and/or outside the team
  10. Provide technical leadership to less experienced members of the team – mentor, coach, continuous improvement
  11. Take responsibility for technical implementation and decision making including the delivery of features
  12. Identify, monitor and resolve feature related issues; escalate if individual resolution is not possible
  13. Review documentation and guides created by more junior members of the team
  14. Guide Software Engineers on how to create sufficient, complete documentation and guides that help onboard new people to the team
  15. Ensure stakeholders understand feature architecture
  16. Maintain communication with stakeholders and ensure changes to any previously agreed solutions are communicated; understand evolutionary paths
  17. Work with assigned partners to ensure an effective and productive relationship, both within the product house and the wider regional Verint support organization.
  18. Prioritize and resolve technical problems and assist others with the same
  19. Ensure the prioritization of scope (including defects) is understood
  20. Understand the development process and suggest improvements to it
  21. Identify areas of technical risk in a feature and options to de-risk
  22. Support opportunities to address technical debt as part of a release
  23. Support the design process and ensure it complies with product architecture
  24. Support planning as regards estimates, dependencies, risk areas, and sequencing tasks

Minimum Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or related field
  2. 5 years experience in design and programming large scale applications through all phases of the software development life cycle including testing, implementation and auditing
  3. Experience with REST API/microservice applications: Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, junit
  4. Experience with databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server,
  5. Ability to take ownership of assignments and drive to resolution
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
  7. Knowledge of behavior driven development practices using technologies such as Cucumber
  8. Experience of software automation tools such as Selenium
  9. Experience of writing clean, readable and maintainable code
  10. Knowledge of software performance testing and profiling tools
  11. Experience of version control systems e.g. GitHub
  12. Advanced knowledge of an IDE e.g., Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA
  13. Experience of continuous integration systems e.g. Jenkins, Harness
  14. Successful completion of a background screening process including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search, OFAC, SS Verification, as well as credit and drug screening, where applicable and in accordance with federal and local regulations

Preferred Requirements

  1. Experience with containerized runtime environments: Docker, Kubernetes
  2. Experience with Cloud hosting services: AWS, Azure
  3. Experience with Application Performance Management systems: NewRelic, AppDynamics, ELK
