This Senior Development & Communications Coordinator has two areas of responsibility. This position works with the BBP Director to develop and coordinate the BBP’s financial plan (including fund raising) to expand philanthropic and other support of the BBP and implementation of its Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan. The position develops, implements and monitors a comprehensive fundraising plan, including: 1) identifying and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders, 2) actively pursuing and managing corporate and individual leads, 3) fostering strong donor and sponsor stewardship, 4) seeking, applying for and managing grant funding, and 5) planning and producing internal fundraising events.
The position also works together with the Outreach Coordinator and other BBP staff to implement the BBP’s Communications Plan, including: 1) oversight of BBP marketing campaigns (e.g., Barnegat Bay is worth more than one use, Don’t’ harass our seagrass), 2) support of all BBP websites, and social media platforms, 3) support of signature activities (e.g., State of the Bay Symposia; Festivals, special events), and 4) editorial review and quality control of BBP reports and other work products.

What You Will Do
1. In coordination with the Director, other staff and partners, this position develops, implements and monitors a comprehensive EPA-approved financial plan to expand support for the BBP and implementation of its CCMP priorities (i.e., water quality, water supply, living resources, land use, climate change) and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
2. With the assistance of Director and the BBP Financial Planning Committee, this position establishes and builds relationships and secures funding from individual, foundation, and corporate donors.
3. This position researches sources of corporate and foundation funding, and identifies and develops proposals to build the BBP’s capacity and support CCMP implementation.
4. With the assistance of the BBP Financial Planning Committee, this position develops and implements fundraising events.
5. This position assists the Outreach Coordinator with implementation of the BBP Communications Plan, including outreach events, workshops, meetings, and conferences.
6. In coordination with the Outreach Coordinator, Director and other staff, this position oversees marketing campaigns (e.g., Trash-Free Waters, Don’t Harass Our Seagrass) and other communications about BBP priorities.
7. Working with other staff, this position assists with identification of grant opportunities and preparation of grant proposals to support BBP programs and activities.
8. Working with other staff, this position develops new content (text, images, video) for the BBP websites and social media platforms.
9. This position provides editorial oversight and quality control of BBP communications, including technical and other reports.
10. Other duties as assigned.
The Successful Candidate Must Have
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a relevant discipline (e.g., English, Communication, Marketing, Public Administration).
At least four or more years of experience in organizational development, including fundraising and marketing, of a public, academic, nongovernmental entity or business.
At least four or more years of experience producing and overseeing communication plans, campaigns, and materials; excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with both public and private partners (i.e., businesses and corporations; foundations and academic institutions; civic associations and citizen groups; government agencies).
At least one year of experience in project management, direction, and facilitation; Candidate must have strong organizational skills and must be detail-oriented.
At least one year of experience with planning and coordinating public events.
At least one year of experience using social media for organizational communications (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube).
Ability to work independently and efficiently and complete assignments with limited supervision.
Required computer skills include Microsoft Office Suite and web applications.
A valid N.J. Driver’s license is required.

1. One year of college coursework in environmental science, marine biology, forestry, environmental health or related discipline.
2. One or more years of documented experience working on diversity, equity, or inclusion issues.
3. Fluency (reading, writing, and conversing) in Spanish.
