Position Summary: The Special Projects Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of MDPL by managing and coordinating various projects that support our preservation and education goals. This position is suitable for a very hard worker who is passionate about performing important work in a small team with limited resources. This individual will oversee project planning, execution, and evaluation, ensuring that all initiatives align with MDPL’s strategic objectives and maintain the highest standards of quality. The manager will work closely with MDPL's executive director as well as other stakeholders including staff, volunteers, board members, and grant agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of special projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, volunteers, and external partners to achieve project goals.
- Resource Management: Allocate and manage resources, including budgets, personnel, and materials, to maximize project efficiency.
- Reporting: Develop and maintain project documentation, including timelines, budgets, and progress reports.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing any issues that arise.
- Event Coordination: Assist in the planning and execution of MDPL events, including Art Deco Weekend, lectures, and community outreach activities.
- Grant Writing and Management: Identify funding opportunities and assist in writing grant proposals to support special projects. Maintain existing grants in good standing and assist in reporting deadlines for various grants and agencies.
- Community Engagement: Foster relationships with community members, organizations, and government entities to promote MDPL’s mission and projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in project management, preferably in a nonprofit or cultural organization.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools. We use Asana, Slack, Canva, Google Drive, Google Docs/Sheets, and Wordpress
- Experience with grant writing and fundraising is a plus.
- Knowledge of historic preservation and interest in the mission of MDPL is highly desirable.
Note, the position is located in Miami Beach. This is an in-person position and does not include remote work.
