Job Summary

 

Are you looking for a fun and rewarding job? Do you have a background in healthcare (nurse, EMT , or paramedic) or experience as an actor in healthcare simulation? This is a great opportunity to experience new situations and people and expand your background.

 

As an actor in simulation, you will be asked to play a myriad of roles including medical team member, patient, family member or another designated role. You will perform medical tasks while interacting with clinical professionals (learners). During simulated human encounters you will support instruction and assessment of learners in a simulated clinical environment. After simulations you may be asked to provide feedback to the learners regarding your experience from your perspective.

 

In this role, you may participate in video productions, support voice-over for e-learning courses, photographs and other teaching material as required. You will have the opportunity to work varied hours, as needed.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Portray the role of a patient, family member, or healthcare professional in simulation scenarios.
  • Memorize a case script detailing specific emotions, behaviors, and disease signs/symptoms for dramatization during simulated learning situations.
  • Present case information in a standardized manner during simulated interactive patient history and/or medical examinations.
  • Remain in character when responding to student questions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information related to cases, student behaviors and feedback evaluations.
  • Provide educationally constructive verbal feedback within a structured format, as appropriate to the position.
  • Participate in group training and/or mentorship of entry-level confederates.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Preferences

 

  • Formal training in nursing, respiratory therapy, mental health and/or other healthcare experience, or two years of medical simulation acting experience, or formal theater training
  • The ability to embody the role assigned with fidelity and realism
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent memorization and concentration skills
