Responsibilities
The digital content QA will perform quality assurance of all assets related to online training courses in a variety of learning platforms. The work involves a high volume of course assets in a fluid environment and team members work both independently and collaboratively. Content topics range from the software industry to university degree programs. Course materials include:
- Written assets: introductions, learning objectives, summaries, quiz questions, readings, faculty- or peer-reviewed activities, rubrics, reading lists, glossaries, and cheat sheets.
- Audiovisual and interactive assets: hands-on labs, guided projects, interactivities, videos in several formats including screen recorded (PPT, voiceover, video) and fully animated videos.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing quality assurance processes on content ready for beta in the publishing platforms prior to publishing to meet the high standards and usability specific to each publication platform.
- Validating that courses conform to established guidelines, including accessibility standards.
- Logging issues, errors, guidance, and recommendations for improvement and communicating with project managers, publishers, and others on fixes.
- Actively balancing the work of multiple projects that can be competing assignments in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
- Troubleshooting publishing and content issues.
- Working collaboratively with other teams and client contacts to support publishing and content updates on schedule and according to established deadlines.
- Assisting in creating and maintaining team tools, processes, documentation, and style guides, and providing peer reviews and cross-training of new hires or new-to-role team members as needed.
- Contributing to the evolution of internal platforms and processes by providing feedback on tool sets, the learner experience, best practices, and workflow optimization.
- Being cross-trained to assist with digital publishing or content QA as project volume requires.
Qualifications and skills
- Experience in proofreading or technical testing roles involving user experience and platform functionality.
- Experience in using content management systems and related tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud/Captivate, Articulate (Rise, Storyline), H5P, TechSmith (Camtasia), Microsoft Office Suite (including Teams), Google docs, Box and Slack is preferred.
- Experience in the learning and content development industry space, particularly in Coursera and edX, is preferred.
- Flexibility to work within, and quickly learn different and varied content management systems.
- Familiarity with HTML, XML, Markdown, the Gits (GitLab, GitHub, Git), LaTeX, and Jira is preferred.
- Outstanding writing and proofreading skills.
- Superior attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and a desire for accuracy in job performance.
- Ability to follow client and company style guides and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to track multiple projects and communicate progress to others on the team.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues.
- Critical thinker and creative problem solver.
- Three years of experience in proofreading or technical testing roles.
