🚀 Senior Backend Engineer – Payments Platform

A Series A‑backed fintech is on a mission to revolutionize how money moves. They are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the backend core of our payments ecosystem—processing transactions securely, reliably, and at scale.

What You'll Do

1. Design & build: Microservices/APIs for payments, funds flow, reconciliation—low‑latency and fault‑tolerant.
2. Scale systems: Distributed architecture on AWS, containerized with Docker/K8s, and managed via CI/CD pipelines.
3. Data expertise: Create schemas and pipelines with Postgres, MongoDB, Kafka/RabbitMQ, and Redis.
4. Secure by design: Build with PCI‑DSS/GDPR compliance baked in; collaborate with security and legal teams.
5. Own APIs: From design through deployment. Ensure high quality via documentation, testing, monitoring, and observability.
6. Cross-functional partner: Work with Product, Design, Operations, and Data to deliver reliable, user‑centric features.
7. Mentor others: Collaborate on architecture, share best practices, and help build a strong engineering culture.

We’re looking for someone who:

1. Has 5+ years building backend systems in fintech or payments
2. Proficient in Java/Python/Go, microservices, REST/gRPC, and distributed systems
3. Experienced with Postgres, MongoDB, messaging and caching
4. Skilled in cloud environments (AWS/GCP), CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
5. Understands production concerns: monitoring, alerting, resiliency
6. Values craftsmanship: TDD, clear documentation, peer reviews
7. Has strong communication skills and thrives in fast-paced, cross-functional teams
8. Bonus: knowledge of PCI‑DSS, compliance standards, async workflows, Rails/AI‑driven tooling
9. Bonus: previous work in payments, core banking, corporate cards, or consumer finance
