Role overview

Senior Software Engineer – Expert Medical Opinion Platform (US-based)

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of new features for the Accolade Expert Medical Opinion Platform, while ensuring the stability, performance, and maintainability of the existing codebase. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, product managers, and engineering leadership to translate business needs into robust, scalable, and elegant software solutions.

A Day in the Life

1. Partner with product management to define scope and technical requirements.
2. Architect, design, and plan delivery for enhancements and platform maintenance with a fast turnaround time.
3. Lead and mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical guidance and code reviews.
4. Ensure solutions meeting high quality standards, with a strong emphasis on unit testing, application testing, and continuous integration.
5. Support and evolve a PHP monolithic application.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.

What We’re Looking For

1. 6+ years of experience in designing and building scalable web applications using PHP (Symfony Components + Codeigniter), MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
2. Strong OOP skills with a passion for clean architecture and a willingness to work in a Domain-Driven Design (DDD) approach.
3. Deep experience with unit testing and application-level testing strategies.
4. Proven track record delivering projects with fast turnaround while maintaining high quality.
5. Solid experience with Git, REST API design, and integration.
6. Hands-on experience with Docker containers.
7. Familiarity with AWS services including IAM, S3, RDS, ECS, and API Gateway.
8. Solid understanding of modern DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
9. Experience working in highly agile, collaborative, and innovative environments.

The salary range for this role is:

$124200-$192500
