This position is an exciting opportunity to work with the Lockheed Martin Space Compliance & Controls team. The Compliance team is a small, yet dynamic group that provides guidance across the enterprise, partnering with programs and functional areas to ensure their business practices are in accordance with internal and external policies and regulations. This role provides an opportunity to make a significant impact to the Space strategy as it pertains to Government Finance and will provide exposure to all areas of the business, broadening your financial, analytical, and communication skills.

A day in the life...

  • Work across the enterprise to provide charging guidance for allowable and unallowable, direct and indirect, and capital, overhead, Internal Research and Development (IRAD) and Bid and Proposal (B&P) costs utilizing Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), the Disclosure Statements, and other relevant policies.
  • Perform unallowable cost reviews and communicate findings regarding charging decisions and guidance.
  • Provide training to various programs and Lines of Business (LOBs) to ensure their understanding of allowability & direct/indirect principles.
  • Assist in the development, submittal, audit and negotiation of the annual incurred cost claims and final rate agreements. These claims form the basis of the total cost of our government contracts and therefore are critical to EBIT and Cash.
  • Craft persuasive written responses to government audit reports to demonstrate the accuracy of Space's incurred cost claims. This requires researching various cost principles and relevant materials.
  • Interface with external customers, the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), to respond to requests and inquiries in support of Government audits and initiatives.


The position is dynamic and requires the ability to synthesize various data points, research applicable guidance and come to a supportable conclusion on issues that are not black and white. In this role, no two days are alike, and the business issues and decisions that the Compliance team is involved in are continually evolving.

We are seeking a candidate that is comfortable with ambiguity and able to provide consistent guidance by utilizing available policies and prior precedence. Must be able to clearly articulate the position in writing. Desired qualities include strong analytical, persuasion, accounting acumen, and written and verbal communications skills. Candidate will be supported by knowledgeable team members.
Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related area
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with various levels of leadership
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated professional presence and business acumen skills

Desired Skills:

  • Strong Microsoft office skills, primarily focusing on Excel and PowerPoint
  • Audit, legal, policy or compliance background
  • Experience in complying with FAR, CAS, Sarbanes Oxley and internal business control procedures
  • Experience with presentation of data to all levels of internal and external customers
  • Significant analytical skills of financial information
  • Strong initiative to learn and grow
  • Knowledge of burdening and rate structures
  • Knowledge of Business Systems, particularly SAP and ERP
  • Experience in working with Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and/or Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) or other auditor

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $71,000 - $136,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
