The Wildlife and Lands Program in the Bay Delta Region is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Fish and Wildlife Habitat Supervisor to manage two large staffed Wildlife Areas (Grizzly Island WA and Napa-Sonoma Marshes WA) in Solano and Napa Counties. The incumbent will organize work projects and assign employees to tasks related to daily activities and seasonal operations such as maintenance of ponds, water control structures, fish screens, levees, roads, onsite water management, mosquito abatement, weed control, and heavy equipment operations. The incumbent will oversee hunter check station and hunt programs for waterfowl, pheasants, elk, and pigs as well as assist hunters and other public visitors regarding recreational opportunities. They will coordinate with the private landowners, Suisun Resource Conservation District and other local, state, and federal agencies.
The incumbent will oversee maintenance and repairs of equipment and infrastructure on the GIWA and NSMWA compounds and complexes including offices, employee housing, equipment storage facilities, office and communications systems, septic and water systems for facility and other related infrastructure. Other administrative duties include: personnel management, scheduling, tracking expenditures, contract administration, vehicle use reporting, and preparing; access agreements, press releases, budgets, reports, procurement documents, and oversees herbicide program and commercial driver requirements for staff.

Working Conditions
Involves regularly working outside in inclement weather and harsh conditions. Areas include uneven terrain in uplands, flooded ponds, and tidal slough and marsh environments. Requires ability to: drive numerous types of 4x4 vehicles, lift heavy objects, endure long and irregular work hours, work weekends, and change hours of work due to wildlife area activities, supervision needs, hunt programs, and other unforeseen issues or emergencies. Regularly attend meetings which require occasional travel. Must be willing and capable to competently use firearms in accordance with Department's Policy for Non-Enforcement Personnel to collect specimens, perform euthanasia of sick or injured wildlife animals, dispatch an animal that poses a public or personal safety threat, remove animals that are causing damage on Department owned and/or managed lands, and deliver specialized projectiles to avert and/or haze nuisance animals.
Must be willing to handle live animals, carcasses, and conduct simple tissue sampling and necropsies. Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid California Driver License and will be required to wear a uniform, consistent with Department policy.

Special Requirements
Must possess a valid driver's license, be able to operate a motor vehicle, and be prepared to travel using a state vehicle. Desire to obtain/maintain a California Class A Driver License with air brake and tank endorsements.
