We are growing and hiring for an experienced Senior Associate to support our growth. A Senior Associate at Trilogy is a core member of our small team of investment professionals. They perform a critical role in all fund activities, from internal analysis and investment deliberation, to advising Trilogy-backed entrepreneurs, to representing the firm externally. They are an advisor to the investment committee, a mentor and supervisor to junior members of the team, and a thought partner to various stakeholders in the search fund community.

Key responsibilities:

• Serve as a key member of Trilogy deal teams, with activities to include:
  • Support entrepreneurs as they conduct financial and commercial due diligence on potential acquisitions, as well as conduct Trilogy’s own independent due diligence
  • Draft investment memoranda for internal deliberation
  • Advise entrepreneurs in negotiating deal terms
  • Coordinate with peers at co-investor organizations
  • Assist in closing transactions
• Advise the investment committee (Trilogy managing directors)
• Assist in the recruiting of top entrepreneurs who are raising search funds and may want to partner with Trilogy
• Conduct prospective entrepreneur interviews and due diligence
• Support Trilogy-backed entrepreneurs throughout all phases of the search process
• Mentor and supervise analysts and associates
• Support compliance-related tasks and fund administration
• Develop and lead activities designed to raise Trilogy’s profile in the search community

Key attributes:

• Ability to build trust-based relationships within the Trilogy team and the broader investor and searcher community
• Strong business judgment
• Distinctive facility in financial modeling; ability to validate the details of financial analyses and deal models and, if necessary, edit/build such models directly
• Outstanding ability to serve as a thought partner to search fund entrepreneurs in conducting commercial and financial diligence across a diversity of companies and industries
• High EQ leader who will engage proactively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to quickly learn the key legal and financial points of search fund financial transactions
• Enthusiasm for the search fund asset class and for the experience of searching for and acquiring a business

Desired prior experience:

• Demonstrated distinctive progression in Investment Banking, Consulting, Private Equity, or other similar roles; however, there is no one “best” background for this role
• Relevant deal experience, particularly in the middle market / lower middle market
• Knowledge of, or experience with, search funds and/or search fund investing, including prior academic work
• MBA plus 2 years of professional experience, or equivalent – an MBA is desired, but not required for candidates with 3-5+ years of distinctive, relevant career experience
