The Senior Project Engineer position is in the Technology Development Group. It is responsible for preparing the various information, proposal responses to customer requests, and managing the technology development efforts through a minimum test readiness level 6 (TRL6) under the company-sponsored Applied Research and Technology initiatives. The successful candidate will be required to develop design concepts for fluid control valves used in aerospace applications. Responsibilities will include managing different and multiple projects from the proposal stage (including concept development and generating written technical proposals) through transitioning to the formal product development phases.

Job Core Responsibilities
• Provides mechanical design expertise to develop design concepts for electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic powered modulating and shutoff valves used in aerospace applications
• Responsibilities include management of different projects from the proposal stage (including concept development, bills of materials (BOM), Non-recurring cost estimating, New Product Introduction (NPI) schedule development, and generating written technical proposals), up to the point of contract award
• Capable to conduct technical specification reviews, and completing compliance matrices consistent with product/technical capabilities, and within company processes, requirements, and capabilities
• Shall be proficient in concept development in accordance with technical requirements, and capable of defining derived requirements where more detailed requirements are needed to fully define a product
• The successful candidate must also be capable of representing the company during technical discussions and requirements clarification in addition to supporting the concept design process of new and proposed products. Following the design and proposal of new products, the candidate will be required to support the offering through the selection cycle
• Capable of managing a Research & Development project from concept idea through TRL 6 stage within budget and schedule
• Must be able to work with marketing personnel engineering functions and customers to resolve requirements and design issues, technical questions and assist in winning new contracts
• Must be able to work with engineering and marketing personnel to assess opportunities, recommend and develop concepts based on customer requirements, meet key supplier selection criteria for technical differentiation, resolve design and technical questions and assist in winning new contracts
• Must be capable of representing the company during technical proposal negotiations
• Acts as a lead, providing knowledge and expertise for colleagues
• Ability to show demonstrated proficiency in completing assigned projects on time and with high quality
• Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and additional hours as necessary
Job Specifications
Education: Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.
Years of Experience: min 5+ years of relevant experience in the design, and development of pneumatic/hydraulic/electromechanical control components
Skills:
• Working experience criteria with flow control, valve, and/or high temp materials.
• Demonstrated expertise with complex mechanical engineering solutions
• Proficient with 3-D modeling, CAD, and SolidWorks
• Able to solve complex problems; makes decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
