About us

We are building a platform to power the flow of data globally. It might sound ambitious, but we are well on our way to accomplishing this mission!

Crux is transforming how companies work with data. For years, data discovery, ingestion, and operations have been expensive, time-consuming, and frustrating for data teams looking to harness large quantities of data. We are solving this challenge by enabling enterprises with tools and operations services that facilitate the onboarding and delivery of any dataset to end customers how, and where, they want it. In our lingo, we’re ushering in the third generation of ETL with data mesh capabilities for enterprises.

We are one of the fastest-growing technology companies, with a strong culture focused on learning, excellence, teamwork, and ownership. Founded in 2017 by a seasoned team of data professionals, Crux has grown to over 100 employees and is backed by industry powerhouses, including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Two Sigma.

About the role

As a Principal Product Designer, you will partner with product management, engineering, business leaders, and subject matter experts to design state-of-the-art data integration products. You will relentlessly advocate for the customer (who can represent many different personas), articulate customer needs and success criteria to partners involved in launching the solution, and ensure the experiences built are usable, useful, and delightful. You will help create and oversee the design vision and design strategy across multiple products while assuring a connected, intuitive user experience across the entire application portfolio. This role requires driving design in conjunction with business goals and technical feasibility. You will help instill design thinking across the organization and product development lifecycle while balancing technical, scope, and schedule constraints. If you enjoy solving complex, large-scale data problems and are ready to make a difference in the leading global industries, we would love to talk to you.

This role is 100% remote, based in the U.S.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will

● Define, implement, and communicate design vision and strategy company-wide

● Deliver innovative, functional, usable designs at each stage of the customer’s journey

● Ensure delivery of consistent user experience across the product while working with multiple features teams, each delivering multiple new features and experiences in parallel

● Conceptualize and prescribe innovative design patterns to launch new product capabilities and features in a durable, repeatable, and consistent fashion while providing unified UX/UI

● Work across the entire product and design organization to ensure both design execution and design practices follow the high standards our customers expect of Crux

● Translate complex, ambiguous product requirements and user needs into usable, intuitive designs that guide engineering development and stakeholder execution

● Closely collaborate with product, business, engineering, and data experts in an Agile environment to deeply understand customer needs and design appropriate solutions

● Rapidly visualize and prototype, while exploring multiple product ideas and directions

● On a compressed schedule, quickly and iteratively create functional, highly usable digital experiences customers love that also meet Crux’s product and business objectives

● Validate designs with both internal and external customers, and iterate on user feedback to design solutions that deliver the most customer, business, and revenue value

● Create user flows, prototypes, high-fidelity UX/UI, and visual design specifications, which in turn can be used by the product and engineering teams to estimate development efforts, guide implementation, and lead the product to market

● Lead user research projects by employing different techniques (e.g., user studies, surveys, usability tests, A/B tests) to identify and construct the best possible designs

● Focus on fast-to-market design without compromising on product scope, quality, or usability
