Job Description:

Successful candidates will possess the ability to design and develop assembly models, mechanisms, and components for standard products, custom adaptations of these products and custom machinery designs. Given project scope and specifications, the person estimates resources, develops project schedules and manages design resources to deliver robust, cost effective and timely product solutions. Limited travel necessary.

Responsibilities and Requirements Include

· Responsible for operational details and implementation of usable parts into manufacturing with consideration given to: functionality, reliability, manufacturability and cost.

· Responsible for bill of material creation, engineering drawings, manufacturing support, final assembly checkout, installation support and post shipment follow up.

· Provides support to Sales and Customer Service in estimating, developing retrofit solutions.

· Works with Electrical Engineering on machine controls to provide an integrated product.

· Be responsible for the design and release of mechanical assemblies and sub-systems.

· Evaluate and choose mechanical components as needed and as appropriate for specific machine designs.

· Design and detail tooling, frames, and weldments using raw materials as a source (tool steel, aluminum, etc.).

· Design mechanical assemblies that incorporate purchased components such as air cylinders, proximity switches, rails and bearings, spindles and motors, and other commercial off-the-shelf elements.

· Produce detail drawings that permit the machine’s necessary components to be purchased and raw materials to be machined and assembled.

· Work closely with other engineers to solve machine design and debug problems (including non-mechanical issues).

· Maintain current drawing directory with up to date drawings and Engineering Change Notices

· Maintain BOM requirements with our ERP system, this includes BOM maintenance as well as BOM creation and part inventory creation within the system

· Maintain drawing files and storage per Mereen-Johnson and Diehl standards

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BME or BSME) or some other engineering discipline.

· 5+ years’ experience in mechanical design and manufacturing, 5+ years’ experience with Solidworks and 2D AutoCAD

· Mechanical aptitude required. Experience in electro-mechanical products under CNC controls a plus.

· Proficiency in the usage of 2D designs preferred.

· Experience in typical Office applications (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc).

· Strong technical, communication, and hands on problem solving skills

· Practical working knowledge of components such as air / hydraulic cylinders, robots, gaging, and machine sensors.

· Strong interpersonal skills

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
