The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for Food Safety and practicing and enforcing all GMPs and appropriate food defense techniques. In addition, the Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for reporting all production and maintenance issues to the Production Supervisor/Manager.
Duties/Essential Job Functions
To be responsible for both mechanical and electrical engineering maintenance issues around the facility.
Undertake planned maintenance, breakdown repair and condition monitoring activities of plan and equipment.
Report to Operation staff on status of machine breakdowns
To manage and deliver departmental based projects
Attend and contribute to regular tam meetings (some of which will occasionally be outside of your normal working hours)
Produce Excel and Word-based production reports as required.
Proactively identify and implement improvements to operational machine and resource efficiencies while considering the impact on other departments. Promoting a continuous improvement culture within the department.
Work in conjunction with Operations staff on daily operational engineering related issues and continuous improvement teams.
Manage sub-contractors as needed.
Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems.
Responsible for ensuring that a clean, tidy and hazard free working environment is maintained to defined standards.
To contribute to Six Sigma activities as they relate to own area of responsibility.
Perform general administration tasks as necessary.
Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
Complete assigned work within scheduled time
Ensure that machines are working properly and safely
Notify Manager about equipment and production problems
Follow all GMPs and safety company policies and procedures
Attend all required training programs sponsored by the company such monthly safety meeting, GMP, Chemical handling, etc.
Excellent attendance required, dependable, trustworthy, strong work ethic, respect for others.

Experience
5 years of Maintenance Mechanic work experience or equivalent knowledge within a food grade manufacturing facility
Packaging machinery an experience
5 years of PLC experience.
Fluid Processing experience
Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
5 years of Electrical knowledge of control, low and high voltage systems
Preferred High school diploma or GE.
