Job Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direct supervision of the Lead Web Developer, the Jr Front-End Developer will be responsible for performing various creative design and web development tasks to support client needs and project work. This team member will work closely with project management, content teams and web developers to translate brand, marketing and creative strategies into high-quality deliverables.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Working with project managers and other members of the design team to design websites, advertisements, and viral marketing pieces for various clients using the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Interviews clients to assist them in clarifying their goals for establishing a website.
  • Testing/editing multiple websites to make sure we’re getting the best possible user experience for our clients
  • Working on site edits and migrating content into new or redesign site projects while learning advanced programming and server/database management skills
  • Learning how to work with various frameworks and CMS like WordPress and Bootstrap (Advanced training is provided on all core platforms, tools, and technologies).
  • Client work: provide content strategy services, and establish and communicate project timelines and milestones
  • Client work: collaborating with team members, as needed, to ensure technical solutions are implemented to meet project requirements
  • Client work: communicating ideas through mockups
  • Client work: creating website and web application designs based on customer requirements, standards, and best practices
  • Client work: assisting with the development and implementation of user-friendly, professional, visually-pleasing websites and web applications
  • Client work: Leveraging a content management system to implement customer vision and requirements to streamline the lifecycle of websites
  • Creating online advertisements
  • Creating social media branding and identity
  • Creating viral marketing pieces - infographics, motion graphics, online guides, long form graphics
 

KNOWLEDGE
  • Exposure to the principles of web user experience (UX)
  • Understanding of end-to-end testing and debugging
  • Understanding of key marketing concepts such as calls to action and conversion optimization
  • Knowledge of SEO concepts and best practices
  • Knowledge of key design principles such as contrast ratio, readability, typography, and color theory
  • Knowledge of web architecture, development, databases, and agile methodologies
 

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1-3 years of experience with web design or front-end web development duties
  • An eye for design and a dedication to quality
  • Outstanding skills in Photoshop and Illustrator. Experience in InDesign is a plus.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and troubleshooting cross-browser compatibility issues
  • Experience of building responsive web layouts with adaptive grids
  • Experience with WordPress and page builder plugin including Elementor
  • Experience with UX and developing sophisticated user interfaces
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets, etc)
  • Assertive problem-diagnosis and creative-problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines and budgets
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques
  • Experience creating online advertisements
  • Experience with social media branding and identity
  • Ability to be a self-starter, pay strict attention to detail, and multitask across multiple projects and clients in a fast-paced, team-based environment
  • Professional and dependable, with solid work ethic
  • Knowledge of information architecture, workflow design, information management, and governance for site usability
  • Ability to display a portfolio showcasing broad design and development competencies, including usability, UI design, development best practices, and comprehension of web technologies
  • Ability to demonstrate visual design expertise, including gathering raw data from various sources and developing comprehensive and visually engaging designs
  • Possession of excellent presentation, interpersonal, client support, and collaboration skills
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written English communication skills
 

PREFERRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, & CERTIFICATIONS
  • Experience with web development libraries & frameworks, including jQuery, Bootstrap, or React
  • High proficiency with WordPress, including custom theme and plugin development
  • Experience with programming languages, such as Perl, Python, C#, C++, or Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with working in the IC or government environment
  • Minimum university degree is a plus
  • Email HTML development experience, including using email testing tools like Litmus
  • Client service experience
  • Landing page experience in Unbounce and their MAP integrations
  • Experience using After Effects or Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Proficient understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git / SVN
  • Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
