Responsible for securing the computer and network systems that utilize the UNMH/HSC data network. Provide complex, high-level technical support to secure computer and network systems. Conduct secure system project development. Provide or develop new and/or improved network risk mitigation techniques and procedures. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies, standards and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed responsibilities:
- SECURITY - Formulate, develop, and implement integrated secure architectures for medium-to-large systems
- STANDARDS - Develop technical security standards for computer and network systems, to include standards for infrastructure hardening, system security, and risk mitigation
- STANDARDS - Develop and implement standards for network, systems and communications to protect the integrity and confidentiality of the financial, patient record and other systems in compliance with state and federal requirements
- PROJECTS - Provide project management of technical staff in the implementation, installation, configuration, and technical support of secure computer and network architecture
- PROJECTS - Coordinate projects with other departments and external organizations and agencies
- REQUIREMENTS - Determine information security processing needs and risks of UNM Hospitals' departments
- COMMUNICATION - Communicate and collaborate with technical and non-technical personnel to understand and define user needs, gather and analyze data and recommend solutions
- RESOURCE - Provide planning, leadership, direction, and advanced technical expertise regarding systems, computer and network security for both local and HSC-wide area networks, and the Internet
- COORDINATION - Serve as primary point of contact and liaison with vendors; review vendor products, and coordinate and facilitate vendor interviews and presentations
- REQUIREMENTS - Negotiate exact technical requirements with vendors; establish contracts, and write technical contract specifications and proposals
- TRAINING - Design, develop, and deliver training classes and workshops in areas of computer security and network systems
- INSTALL - Install, configure, and secure computer and network operating system and application software, as appropriate; provide on-call support for security systems and incident response as required
- KNOWLEDGE - Maintain a broad knowledge of current and emerging state-of-the-art computer/network/security/testing technologies, architectures, and products
- KNOWLEDGE - Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field in order to enhance expertise
- BUDGET - Develop and administer the division's annual budget; monitor and approve expenditures
