What You'll Do
Ohio Department of Public Safety - Director's Office/Information Technology (App Architecture Cyber Security)
Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223
Work hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm (On call 24hrs/7days per week)
CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE) Will report into the office 3 days a week and telework 2 days a week. May be subject to change.

IT position with high level knowledge of Networking and IT Security fields. In-depth knowledge of Cyber Security, Security Incident Response, and Security Frameworks (e.g., NIST, SANS, etc.).
Daily Duties Include But Not Limited To
- Participate in Architecting and Administer security systems, including new installs, break-fix, maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Participate during incident response situations; represent ODPS in a technical manner as needed. Review and educate other incident participants as needed.
- Receive alerts and monitor tools provided by OIT and OISP to analyze, interpret, investigate and resolve security issues and concerns located within the DPS environment. (e.g., Albert, Appscan, Qualys, etc.). Take the lead and collaborate with desktop/user support networking and server administrators to address production system concerns.
- Work closely with OIT on Security projects and initiatives.
- Receive alerts and monitor tools provided by DPS ITO to analyze, interrupt, investigate and resolve security issues and concerns located within the DPS environment (e.g., Splunk, Centralized logging, Flexera, DatAd-vantage. Etc.).
- Assess network and information system activity. Perform event correlation, analysis of malicious activity indicators, based on review and access to multiple security tools and services.
- Automate notifications and alerts when possible.
- Respond to alerts (analyze, interpret, investigate, resolve) based on monitoring activity, for security (malware, malicious actor), and other purposes (malicious activity, misuse, etc.) assist on establishing procedures.
- Manage, update, modify alerts, adjust/fine tune event correlation rules, etc. (e.g., filter false positives, increase accuracy/relevance/effectiveness), create new rules based on threat changes/evolving risk, etc.
- Manage, Update, troubleshoot and administer Anti-Virus products in-stalled, work with team to ensure Anti-Virus upgrades occur smoothly, assist with customized dashboard and reporting, deals with exclusions and assist with virus discovery and recovery.
- Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) and Web Application Firewall (WAF) monitoring, reporting and escalation of discovery.
- Web Security Gateway and Web Content Filtering alert
monitoring and alert dissemination and assist with remediation.
- Provide data as requested to key, identified DPS staff for forensic review and/or Administrative Investigations.
- Functions as project team member, is team-oriented, and capable of ex-tending contribution beyond security functions to support other IT functions.
- Research and provide input regarding requests for software, new security tools and technologies. Be available to work with architects and Development staff to design solution for DPS.
Job duty, knowledge, skill, and ability statements at a lower-level are understood to be able to be performed at any higher level.
