Head of Product Design & Brand

At The Rounds we believe that a great consumer brand is a defensible moat and that great design has a way of becoming great products and services. We’re looking for an extraordinary hands-on, proactive, multidisciplinary designer to lead Product Design & Brand. The ideal candidate "majors" in Digital Product Design and "minors" in Consumer Brand, i.e. great experience in consumer retail across digital product and channels. You see the big picture, but also know that great brands and great design comes down to execution and the details. You are either a communications or UI/UX designer by trade, and the other by firsthand experience.

In this role, you'll lead our brand identity from the ground up and help push design forward through every stage of the creative process. You will take on complex problems and design elegant, simple, and unique solutions that surprise and delight users in a distinctly The Rounds way. This high-impact role reports directly to our Co-Founder/CEO.

You will:
Bring our brand to life across every aspect of the business, from digital product design, to art direction across channels, to visual identity of physical experiences, to our brand guidelines
Partner with Co-Founder/CEO to set long-term vision and voice as a leading and innovative consumer brand, from storytelling to typography to illustration to photo/video direction
Design digital products that are not only awesome to look at but also extremely intuitive and make managing everyday chores an amazing experience/interaction for our Members
Research, design and prototype new user experiences based on prod-eng requirements
Design a lot yourself and manage a small team of freelance partners
Oversee production of stunning creative assets for digital, print and IRL
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Marketing and Service Design
Help build a network of creative partners of freelance designers, illustrators & photographers
Exercise a keen eye for aesthetics, across color use, typography and subtle details
Use critical thinking and strategic decision making skills to weigh business vs creative goals

You are:
A multidisciplinary designer with a strong foundation in graphic/visual communication and digital product design, creating brand systems and digital/physical experiences
More specifically, a designer with 7+ years experience in both brand and product design at a creative/branding agency and/or design-led consumer tech startup, e-commerce is a plus
Highly skilled in designing web and mobile app delightful UX and beautiful UI from start to finish
Highly collaborative, driven by creative excellence and great design craftsmanship
A self-starter, able to work independently across multiple tasks under minimal supervision and quickly communicate design concepts through sketches, mockups, wireframes
An excellent illustrator, expert in Adobe Creative Suite, proficient in Webflow
Passionate about sustainability, brand and design within a tech startup environment
