What you will be doing
The Corporate Food Safety & Quality Assurance team has an opening for a FSQA Quality Manager, located at the Albertsons Companies Technical Center and Culinary Kitchens in Dublin, California.
Main responsibilities
- Manage Meat Tenderness Laboratory, including cutting, cooking and testing samples, as well as cleaning and scheduling maintenance of equipment
- Lab Management includes collecting data in a scientific manner utilizing appropriate statistical methodologies and performing analytical and quality evaluations in a technical manner
- Perform accurate measurements and calculations and interpret results
- Provide food safety and quality assurance support for meat and seafood procurement activities, OWN Brands private-label program, distribution center operations, and retail food establishments as directed
- Manage food safety product review processes for commodity items and/or within the OWN Brands portfolio
- Manage commodity meat and seafood specifications and technical library resources
- Create and disseminate project summary reports and key findings to assist food safety compliance and quality improvement.
- Assist in the development and administration of operational and laboratory standards, program policies, actionable guidance, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) relating to food safety and quality assurance throughout the company.
- Participate in the development and implementation of food safety audits
- Serve as a technical resource for food safety concerns and provide innovative and strategic ideas for resolution of risk to the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.

“The salary range is $ 82,900 to $107,680 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.
What we are searching for
- 4-year college degree required in meat science, food science, food technology, food engineering or allied degree.
- Minimum 2 years, preferably 5 years in the food industry or working pilot plant or meat lab, with knife and saw experience, or willingness to learn
- Knowledge of hazard analysis and risk assessment (chemical, physical and biological) and emerging food borne pathogens and awareness of potential risk management strategies is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical and technical writing skills required.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams.
- Ability to assimilate new information quickly and react positively to new and challenging opportunities.
- Demonstrated time management and prioritization skills required
- Energetic, self-motivated and the ability to manage multiple projects and work with multifunctional teams.
- Excellent organizational, planning and interpersonal skills; high level of trustworthiness and integrity.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with internal and external customers and vendors.
