RBX Active, an up-and-coming Activewear brand, is looking for a Freelance Tech Designer to support our Design and Production department in new product development. With a focus on Missy and Plus Activewear and Athleisure, you will have a chance to work with a wide variety of styles and fabrics. This is a hybrid position with flexible hours.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and creating Technical Packages to share with team members and overseas factories.
- Review, Measure, and evaluate Fit samples from Prototype stage to Production TOPs on fit models or body forms as needed. (This would take place in our Manhattan office)
- Partner with Design and Production to improve fit by providing clear and concise comments to factory representatives via PLM Software.
- Enter development sample measurements into PLM.
- Communicate with overseas contacts on all technical issues, providing technical expertise on how to correct or achieve a desired look, while ensuring that there is correlation between correction and updated spec.
- Working with Designer in developing fit standards within brand and categories
Skills & Requirements
- Understand End to End product development process from concept to delivery.
- Knowledge of apparel development process from inception through production, including but not limited to: pattern making, grading, construction manufacturing, embroidery, materials, and machinery used in apparel.
- Good Time Management Skills with ability to set priorities and review with Design.
- Knowledge and understanding of Grading for Missy and Plus.
- Ability to work in a fluid, fast-paced, multi-channel environment.
- Understanding of basic pattern principles.
- Good communication skills
- Experience working with overseas contacts.
- Bachelor's degree in Apparel/Technical Design, Textile Sciences, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in technical design of apparel; relevant experience in womenswear
- MS Excel, Word, Adobe, PLM experience.
- Knowledge of computer pattern making software is plus
Compensation:
- The approximate salary range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00 per hour. The offered salary or salary range for this position will vary based on role requirements, skill set and years of experience.
