Job Description:

This position is fully responsible for the entire Accounting Cycle. Monthly Financial Statements, Year End Financial Statements Audit, working with outside tax advisors to complete Tax Extensions and Tax Returns, managing the entire Employee Stock Ownership Plan Annual Valuation process. In addition to the Annual Company Valuation, the Controller will be responsible for providing requested information to the Third-Party Administrator, Valuation Company, and Trustee, on an annual and as needed basis. Preparing all necessary paperwork for Annual Contribution and S-Corporation Payments. The Financial Statements must be in accordance with GAAP, per the company’s banking agreements. The Company must also ensure the Company and the ESOP are in compliance with ERISA.

This position is also responsible for guidance and feedback for all steps of the accounting cycle, including but not limited to Cash Receipts, Accounts Receivable Adjustments, Inventory Receiving, Inventory Adjustments, Invoicing and Credit Note errors.

 

General Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Annual

  • Provide all information necessary to Tax Advisor in order to calculate and disburse S-Corporation Distribution Payments

 

  • Tax Returns

Provide all necessary and requested information to ensure timely filing of Tax Extensions and Tax Returns.

 

  • Financial Statement Audit

o Provide all requested information.

o Prepare all year-end adjustments necessary to ensure Financial Statements are in accordance with Generally

Accepted Accounting Principles, as required per the Banking Agreement.

o Prepare all ESOP Accounting Journal Entries and required backup.

o Update Financial Statement Footnotes.

 

• Prepare and Issue 1099s to all required recipients by IRS deadline.

 

• Insurance Audit – Provide requested information in order to compare the previous year’s Premium based on estimated data vs actual.

 

• Provide all requested information related to the ESOP, Employee Census, Contribution and S-Corporation Distribution details.

 

• ESOP Management

o Provide all requested information necessary for the Annual Valuation

o Prepare Price Protection Payments due to retired/ former employees eligible for current year Disbursement.

 

• Request updated rates for Real Estate Rent Agreement and outstanding ESOP Loan. Update ESOP Loan Amortization Schedule.

 

Month End Close

• Review Monthly Bank Reconciliation prepared by Staff Accountant. Review all Bank Reconciliation Entries to ensure accurate amounts and GLs. Post Bank Journal Entries and run Monthly Reconciliation Reports. After running reports, updated Monthly Bank Reconciliation workbook.

• Reconcile all Balance Sheet Accounts

• Reconcile Invoice Registers for all Divisions.

• Run and manually clear Promotions for Publix Consolidation Divisions

• Review and approve monthly AMEX reclass to proper accounts.

• Prepare Monthly ESOP Interest, Bank interest, Salary, Bonus, Payroll, Audit Fees, and Tax Fee accruals

• Prepare Monthly inter-company sales analysis.

• Prepare monthly Accounts Receivable/ Sales accrual for expected 2% Cash Discount

• Accrue Rebates due from Suppliers.

• Prepare monthly Unearned Rebate Analysis

• Prepare the following Financial Statement Reports

o Balance Sheet

o Income Statement

o Income Statement by Month

o Monthly Gross Profit by Division

o YTD Gross Profit by Division

• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

• Ability to work independently and as a team member, as required.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to sit for prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Regular and consistent attendance required on-site in the office.

• Ability to travel for work when required/requested.

 

 

Qualifications

CPA

Min 5 Years Public Accounting Experience
