The Marshall Facilities team provides support to the physical operations to Marshall faculty and staff offices, libraries, student, and instructional spaces. The office oversees not only the maintenance and upkeeping of the building, they also manage the keys and access, management of storage, and overseeing the cleaning, security, and HVAC systems. In addition to all of the regular operations, the office is responsible for disseminating USC campus COVID policies/guidelines for operations and ensuring that supplies, office set-ups are updated.

 

The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of USC Marshall buildings at both locations (i.e., University Park Campus and USC City Center), ensuring that all components of our daily operations are working smoothly (security, custodial, infrastructure, etc). They will provide leadership & supervisory responsibilities to the facilities coordinators & administrative support team. In addition the Facilities Manager will manage and execute renovation projects from initial program development through completion of construction and project completion with the approved budget.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assumes day-to-day management and supervisory responsibilities for Facilities team & provides overall training and direction to ensure University objectives are being achieved.
  • Manages medium-sized construction projects from programming to project closeout and provides reports as requested. Works closely with the Marshall & University team (Marshall end users & Director of Facilities, USC Capital construction/FPM) during this process.
  • Manages moves of people and furniture
  • Modifies and repurposes offices and other instructional spaces; partners with architects, contractors and end users to achieve optimal design and operational use
  • Develops and manages budgets for construction projects
  • Creates and updates plans for multi-year projects
  • Coordinates with University departments and/or outside contractors and vendors on facilities operation and maintenance issues; coordinates and resolves custodial concerns; conducts periodic inspections of facilities
  • Develops and implements deferred maintenance and preventative maintenance programs
  • Maintains current emergency preparedness plan for Marshall, ensuring all contacts and plans are up to date and emergency teams and positions are filled. Works with the University to schedule the necessary training and annual drills.
  • Drafts and/or produces correspondence, memorandums, and emails based on knowledge of the University’s and School’s facilities operational policies and procedures
  • Supervises one full-time staff member, the Facilities Coordinator Supervises our team: two full-time Facilities Coordinator and one full-time Admin Assistant.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in facilities coordination/management for a school, institution or company
  • 5+ years of experience managing medium-sized institutional construction projects and budgets
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Ability to build consensus and facilitate effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and manage the expectations of diverse and vocal stakeholders
  • Good working knowledge of energy management, predictive and preventive maintenance best practices, regulatory compliance, environmental regulations and applicable Fire, building and construction code
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing priorities and fluctuating workloads
  • Experience in a higher education environment, preferably in the area of business
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of ABCD and experience interacting and communicating with senior administration and faculty
  • Directly related program management experience

 

Salary Range:

The annual base salary range for this position is $104,292.86 - $127,955.64 . When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
