The Challenge
We're looking for an Experienced Engineering Technician III join our Asheboro District team.
In this role, you will
- Conduct in-depth reviews and processing of utility and non-utility encroachment agreements, driveway permits, preliminary site plans, subdivision plans, and road additions/abandonments for Randolph, Chatham, and Montgomery counties.
- Schedule and conduct onsite inspections for compliance with NCDOT specifications and standards.
- Schedule and conduct pre-construction meetings with requesting parties.
- Read and interpret construction plans, provisions, specifications and perform inspection procedures
- Meet with utility representatives, contractors, property owners, and others to discuss adherence to NCDOT policies and procedures.
- Answer questions and address complaints from the public by phone, written correspondence, and in person.
- Assign and schedule daily inspection duties for junior technicians.
- Use surveying equipment to assist in reviews and inspections.
- Work during emergencies and bad weather.
- Assist our District Engineer with tasks.
What You Bring
- Engineering experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
- Project management skills in planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
- Customer service experience solving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
- Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
Education & Experience
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline, and
- 3+ years of technician experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
