Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Chief Engineer of Broadcast and Media Operations (BMO), the Engineer serves as part of a team that works hands-on with the latest production systems and technologies and provides technical expertise and support to growing academic programs that use the television and radio facilities.
The Engineer provides service to students, faculty, academic departments and schools within the College of the Arts, with especially close interaction with the School of Communication and Media and the College of the Arts, as well as both on and off campus clients and industry partners.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide maintenance and engineering support of television, film equipment, radio and facilities.
Evaluate and repair broken equipment; solder and crimp cables.
Maintain repair logs, list of spare parts and replacement equipment.
Work with the Senior and Chief Engineer in locating and ordering parts.
Maintain the BMO engineering shop tools and supplies.
Provide engineering support for professional clients and other University sponsored projects.
Provide technical support for academic programs and for extra-curricular student activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, technical school and/or engineering related certification may be considered in lieu of degree.
Minimum of three years of professional experience in in television and film technical operations, including broadcast equipment maintenance, live and recorded television events, studio and field production.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a variety of constituents.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative manner.
Ability to lift equipment up to 50lb.
Ability to occasionally work outside of normal hours, evenings and/or weekends in the performance of assigned duties.
PREFERRED:
Knowledge of IT technology in conjunction to broadcast systems.
Engineering experience in Internet, radio, mobile technology and digital media.
Strong desire to learn, cross-train, and a passion to maintain current knowledge of relevant and emerging technologies.
