IOWN Renewable Energy, Inc. is seeking a Director of Standalone Storage and New Technologies to lead development of stand-alone utility-scale energy storage and renewable hybrid projects in North America from inception to site development and through financial close. This is a dynamic role in a growing organization. The Director of Standalone Storage and New Technologies will manage existing projects and contribute to expanding the portfolio of projects.

While managing and driving the development of your team, you will take ownership of the business and project development activities related to the existing stand-alone utility-scale battery storage projects and origination of new greenfield projects across the US.

You are a proactive problem solver and a decision-maker who can complete and lead the completion of all aspects of project development, including siting federal, state, and local permitting, engineering, interconnection studies, procurement, and construction planning.

In the position, you will lead technical and commercial due diligence of stand-alone utility-scale energy storage projects and support due diligence for hybrid renewable energy projects in all stages of development.

You will work with other internal and external staff to support the offtake of power and arrangements for finance and preparation for construction and operations.

You will assist or lead teams responsible for detailed design and layouts of stand-alone energy storage projects and support land acquisition and entitlement for assigned projects. You will participate in energy assessments, revenue stacking models, and technology with respect to battery solutions.

Preference will be given to candidates who can work from our headquarter in La Jolla, CA, but remote candidates will be considered.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical discipline.
• At least three (3+) years of utility-scale renewable energy industry development experience with two (2) years in battery energy storage, including development, origination, permitting, interconnection, engineering, procurement, construction, due diligence, and/or financial analysis.
• Keen understanding of supply and demand, policy/regulation, markets, and financial metrics that drive successful project development.
• Familiarity with energy storage supply agreements.
• Experience managing other developers of various experience levels.
• Ability to travel.
• Driven to get things done.
