About the role
- The Content Marketing Manager leads Heggerty’s content and brand marketing efforts internally and across all external channels. This role is central to how Heggerty communicates product value, impact, and purpose to educators and decision-makers, shaping how we express our brand and drive revenue growth. As a key member of the marketing leadership team, this role partners cross-functionally with product marketing, demand generation, and sales to create compelling, high-performing content that supports lead generation, campaign effectiveness, and long-term brand equity. This role manages a Content Marketing Specialist and oversees initiatives such as thought leadership, success story development, and multimedia content, which includes the Literacy Lunch Break podcast.
What you'll do
Brand Voice & Messaging Strategy
- In partnership with CEO and other senior leaders, oversee brand strategy and elevate Heggerty’s brand voice and messaging, ensuring consistency across all external-facing content.
- Build and maintain scalable messaging frameworks that align with lifecycle marketing, product launches, and brand storytelling.
- Write or guide the development of marketing email copy, ensuring alignment with segmentation, campaign goals, and funnel stage.
Thought Leadership & Brand Positioning
- Lead our thought leadership strategy in partnership with senior leaders and internal experts.
- Oversee content development for the Literacy Lunch Break podcast, including scripting, production coordination, promotion, and repurposing.
- Create and distribute content that elevates Heggerty’s voice in the education space and supports both awareness and pipeline growth.
- Align thought leadership content with broader demand generation efforts to support both brand equity and revenue growth
- Use multimedia content strategically to extend the impact of written narratives across multiple platforms
Campaign & Content Development
- Lead strategy and development of blog content, webinars, and downloadable assets that support awareness, engagement, and pipeline progression
- Lead partnership with the Director of Demand Generation to drive alignment of content with campaign strategy, including blog posts, downloadable resources, landing pages, and nurture sequences.
- Collaborate with sales and educator-facing teams to ensure content meets the real needs of classroom stakeholders and supports the entire buyer journey.
- Strategically repurpose content across multiple platforms to extend reach, reinforce messaging, and improve campaign efficiency.
Product Alignment & Internal Expertise Translation
- Lead content development and maintenance, partnering closely with Product Marketing to align content with product positioning and go-to-market messaging.
- Translate product updates, instructional insights, and research into engaging, audience-appropriate narratives for multiple stakeholders.
Video Strategy & Multimedia Storytelling
- Plan and script video content in collaboration with external video contractors, leveraging multimedia as part of broader campaign and thought leadership strategies.
- Integrate classroom stories, educator interviews, and real-impact footage into video storytelling to highlight Heggerty’s effectiveness in schools, including these videos at strategic intervals in the buyer and partner journey to support the campaign message.
Success Stories & Classroom Impact
- Own the development of district and educator success stories that demonstrate real-world results.
- Partner with Customer Success, Sales, and PD teams to identify high-impact stories, collect testimonials and outcomes, and produce shareable, strategic assets.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Manage and mentor the Content Marketing Specialist, ensuring smooth execution of content plans and organic social strategy.
- Lead cross-functional collaborations, helping align content with demand generation, product marketing, partner success, and sales efforts.
- Contribute to broader go-to-market planning, bringing a content lens to campaign strategy and performance evaluation.
Data-Driven Optimization
- Track and report on content performance across channels, using data to optimize content planning and demonstrate impact
- Track and analyze content performance across email, web, social, and downloadable assets.
- Use content performance data to inform strategy, tactical improvements, increase ROI, and align with funnel-stage goals.
Qualifications
- Curiosity, empathy, and a passion for our mission and values
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or related field
- 3–6 years of experience in content marketing, with a proven track record of developing and executing content strategies
- Experience managing at least one direct report or mentoring junior team members
- Familiarity with marketing automation tools (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo, Mailchimp)
- Ability to track and report on content performance metrics (e.g., traffic, engagement, lead generation)
- Understanding of how content aligns with the customer journey and demand generation
- Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback
- Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
