Job Description:

One of our clients in coastal Virginia is looking for a direct hire Content Editor + Manager. Most candidates are not local and it is required that you move to VA; they have a very generous relocation package.

 

**This role is about 70% people management, and 30% editing, so make sure you highlight your personnel management experience explicitly in your resume (how many direct reports you managed, etc.)

 

 

Full time salary is $90,000 - $100,000 and there is also annual bonus potential. *If offered the position, you will be required to relocate within 6 weeks (so it will be well after the holidays).

 

The role is hybrid, with 4 days on-site and Fridays remote each week for all employees. You need to be a US Citizen or Green Card holder, and must be living in the US already.

 

 

The main function split of this role is about 70% people management and 30% editing digital content. That said, you cannot be considered if you have not managed copywriters for several years, and you need to be coming from a steady work history in full time roles vs mostly freelance.

 

 

 

 

Content Editor + Manager Responsibilities:

  • You will manage a small team of writers that handle research, fact-checking, reporting and writing. Team size is about 6 to 8 writers.
  • You will oversee content quality and help improve writers' skill sets.
  • You will handle editing after the writers provide you with their writing projects to create a great story for the readers.
  • You will handle re-writes of the content by providing helpful feedback to the writers with clear communication on what to change and why.
  • You will assure all copy and content stays within the brand voice.
  • You will review various video scripts in addition to general web content to make sure all visual and written content flow and fit together.

 

 

Content Editor + Manager Requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field for writing
  • Must have 7+ years of editing experience within or for a brand
  • Must have 3+ years of experience as a people manager where they were held to certain performance metrics
