The CX team consists of nine licensees and one unlicensed Head of Ops, most of us from startups and established brokerages alike. We aim to build trust and confidence via support that is better than a top agent. To do that, we divide and conquer with members of our team working on one of the following: Marketplace Operations and Brokerage. About The Role
We’re looking for a Broker of Record that will oversee all broker duties in the state of California and help us scale to other states. You will oversee all transaction paperwork, ensure the team is transacting ethically and following DRE requirements, continuously train on sales skills and transaction best practices, and assist in continuing the build out of the brokerage team. This candidate needs extensive experience in building out a brokerage in California, managing a sales team, sales experience, and the ability to inspire, coach, train, hire incomparable talent, and maintain Aalto’s exceptional ethics and A+ transaction performance. The candidate must have the ability to manage significant amounts of information at all times, foresee any potential issues on active transactions and be a calm, exceedingly successful problem solver.

- Supervision of Licensees: Responsible for overseeing the activities of real estate licensees affiliated with the brokerage. This includes ensuring that licensees comply with state and federal laws, as well as the rules and regulations of the California Department of Real Estate (DRE).
- Transaction Oversight: Reviewing and approving real estate transactions conducted by Aalto licensees. Ensuring that all paperwork and contracts comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Training and Development: Providing guidance on legal and ethical standards, as well as offering support for continuing education.
- Risk Management: Minimizing legal and financial risks for the brokerage. Implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with real estate laws and regulations.
- License Compliance: Responsible for ensuring that all affiliated licensees maintain valid and active real estate licenses. Ensure that the brokerage's license is in good standing with the California DRE.
- Dispute Resolution: Potentially being involved with resolving disputes that arise within the brokerage, whether between licensees or with clients. This includes addressing issues related to transactions and other conflicts.
- Representation in Legal Matters: In the event of legal issues or complaints, the Broker of Record may represent the brokerage and its agents. Cooperating with the California DRE during investigations and taking appropriate actions to resolve any legal issues.
- Compliance with Fair Housing Laws: Ensuring compliance with fair housing laws. Educate licensees about fair housing practices and take steps to prevent discrimination in real estate transactions.
- Record Keeping: Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records related to transactions, agent activities, and other business operations. This helps in demonstrating compliance during audits or investigations.
- Business Operations: Some involvement in financial management, marketing strategies, and business planning as Aalto scales to new cities.

A majority of the Aalto team is located around the Bay area with flexibility to work from home or the office. For those located in The Bay area, we do have an office (with ample parking) as an option in the Presidio neighborhood of San Francisco, The CX team meets in the Presidio office on Mondays. Compensation
At Aalto, we strive to provide total rewards that are competitive, equitable, clear, and that tie to the impact that each of our employees has on the organization. Our goal is to have a compensation program that is externally competitive and maps to distinct levels in the outside market while also being equitable internally. The final compensation package is based on an individual’s experience and qualifications for a role. We expect the compensation for this role to fall within the range of $110,000 - $150,000 annual base compensation, equity, and benefits.
