Universal Orlando Resort believes in-person collaboration is key to our success. Many of our Team Members work in a hybrid capacity, contributing from the workplace a minimum of three days per week. JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Manager, Sustainability is responsible for supporting the development and managing sustainability projects for new and existing facilities. Works closely with the Senior Manager, Sustainability. Collaborates with NBCU & UDX Sustainability teams to continually develop standards and to achieve overall corporate goals. Provides project management support of sustainability projects, initiatives and efforts. Supports the review of new development projects during design and engineering phases for conformance and compliance with Universal sustainability standards. Coordinates design direction and goals of new projects with the Sustainability leadership team. Supports sustainability projects and initiatives in support of overall strategy led by NBCU & UDX Sustainability leadership.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sustainability subject matter expertise

  • Provide subject matter expertise to internal projects and project teams through demonstrated and recently acquired skillsets including but not limited to, LEED certification and credit feasibility analysis, energy modeling, life cycle analysis (LCA), life cycle cost analysis (LCCA), etc.
  • Support LEED certification for all new projects. Support Sustainability leadership and project teams by tracking and handling the day-to-day tasks of a Sustainability Owner’s Representative and first point of contact for external consultants supporting all new green building projects.
  • Coordinate and provide guidance to sustainability and LEED consultants to ensure projects are aligned with Comcast, NBCU and UDX sustainability goals and commitments.
  • Research and maintain knowledge of sustainability and green building trends. Provide updates and feasibility analysis for Sustainability leadership team review.

Sustainability project management

  • Support the project management and coordination of sustainability projects, initiatives and efforts in coordination with internal project teams, external consultants and contractors.
  • Maintain established project schedules and cost estimates.
  • Provide administrative leadership for assigned projects and initiatives while maintaining clear communication with Sustainability leadership team.

Sustainability project tracking

  • Maintain and update trackers and logs required by NBCU and UDX Sustainability Leadership.
  • Coordinate with Sustainability Program Manager, Universal Creative Finance, and Sustainability Leadership for cash flow projections and planning.
  • Collaborate with Universal Creative Finance partners and project teams to ensure financial commitments are on schedule to be met and paid out in alignment with the Sustainability long range plan.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, architecture, engineering, sustainability or environmental sciences is required. Master’s degree in sustainability, architecture, engineering, sustainability or environmental sciences is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 4+ years of experience in sustainability/LEED consulting, architecture or engineering working on green certified projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Licensed architect or engineer is preferred, but not required. Certification in LEED, WELL, Fitwel, Sustainability Excellence Associate (SEA) or other green building certifications is preferred.
