The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders. The Assistant Superintendent will play a key role in supporting the overall success of construction projects in Richmond, Virginia.
Responsibilities:
Project Coordination:
- Assist the Superintendent in coordinating and managing construction projects from start to finish.
- Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and other team members to ensure timely and successful project completion.
Site Supervision:
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure work is being performed according to specifications and quality standards.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all on-site personnel.
Subcontractor Management:
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to schedule work and deliveries.
- Ensure subcontractors adhere to project timelines and quality standards.
Quality Control:
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure that construction work meets or exceeds industry standards.
- Address and resolve any quality issues that may arise during the construction process.
Schedule Management:
- Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules.
- Monitor project timelines and make adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines.
Communication:
- Effectively communicate with project stakeholders, including owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Provide regular updates to the Superintendent on project status, challenges, and achievements.
Problem Solving:
- Identify and address construction-related challenges promptly and efficiently.
- Collaborate with the project team to develop creative solutions to overcome obstacles.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily logs, change orders, and progress reports.
- Ensure all necessary permits and inspections are obtained and completed on time.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction management or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, codes, and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office suite.
- OSHA certification is a plus.
