The Technical Writer & Documentation Support Specialist is responsible for creating, maintaining, producing, and updating high-quality technical documentation and a detailed database of reference material for a variety of manufacturing processes. This includes Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, training materials, safety procedures, and any relevant technical documentation to support manufacturing activities. Responsibilities include gaining deep understanding of processes and translating complex information into simple, polished, engaging content as well as evaluate current content and initiate innovative methods for improvement. Works with engineers, scientists, supervisors, frontline workers and other technical experts to gather information and ensure that the documentation is accurate, clear, and easy to understand.
Responsibilities
- Create compelling written content for various platforms, including articles, reports, manuals, and marketing materials.
- Conduct in-depth research to support content development and ensure accuracy of information.
- Edit and proofread documents to maintain high standards of quality and clarity.
- Collaborate with team members to gather information and insights for writing projects.
- Utilize technical writing skills to produce clear instructions and guidelines for users.
- Employ word processing software effectively, including tools like Visio for creating diagrams or flowcharts as needed.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand project requirements and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in writing, editing, or related fields is preferred.
- Strong research skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear content.
- Proficiency in proofreading to ensure error-free documents.
- Familiarity with technical writing principles is a plus.
- Excellent word processing skills; experience with Visio is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- A passion for storytelling and a keen eye for detail are essential for success in this role.
